About Aiki Kai Australia

Aikikai Australia is the national organisation that monitors the day to day aikido matters around Australia and issuing kyu ranks. It is aided in the latter by the Aikido Foundation which sets the technical requirements for gradings. Aikikai Australia was established in 1965 and was the beginning of aikido in Australia. Today the organisation has clubs in all states and territories.

The grading system in aikido is based on kyu ranks, starting from 5th kyu up to 1st kyu. No coloured belt system is used. Black belts are issued after 1st kyu. Kyu gradings are held every 3 months at the main club in Clifton Hill and black belt gradings are held at the Melbourne and Sydney national schools every 6 months.
