Welcome to the RMIT aikido club!

Aikido is a Japanese martial art focused on controlling an attacker using powerful joint locks, ground pins and body throws. It is derived from Japanese jujitsu, with an emphasis on controlling an opponent using their joints.

Aikido is an effective training system with a range of health benefits and general well-being. It is good at managing stress and anxiety through its controlled breathing and mindfulness exercises. It is also good at teaching biomechanics through effective rolls and falls without injuries, joint locks, and body pins to benefit beginner and experienced martial artists alike. Furthermore, it teaches situational awareness and managing multiple attackers effectively in a self-defence context.
